Welcome
to Mantra Lingua Lesson Plans which Celebrate Language and Cultural Diversity
Each term we will provide online lesson plans for teachers
to use with pupils aged 5 to 10 years old. The first three lesson plans uses
Mantra Lingua’s dual language books to teach about diversity of culture and
language. They have been commissioned by Anneke Fonzani of Language Lizard, LLC and written by the faculty and students from West
Chester University of Pennsylvania in a project to bridge language learning and
diversity, cultural appreciation and classroom learing. The Lesson Plans have
been adapted for the English curriculum.
The lesson plans can be implemented as designed or adapted
to meet the needs of a particular pupil or class. Teachers may choose to adjust the languages
introduced in the lessons to better reflect their own diverse communities.
Families can also use the activities presented in the lessons to help their
children learn more about the world around them.
Special thanks to Anneke Fonzani, President and founder of
Lanugage Lizard, LLC and Heather Leaman, Assistant Professor in Elementary
Education Department at West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
